KenCam - Central Lake, Michigan



This is the live web cam shot of my back yard on Intermediate Lake Road in Central Lake.  I keep the camera pointed at the bird feeders with the picture updating every ten seconds.  Besides the birds, you can occasionally see rabbits, skunks, opossums, squirrels, and raccoons feeding on the ground.  In the winter I have a couple of snow depth gauges installed.    You can email me with any questions or comments.






(9/8/10)  Yesterday's high winds caused a Central Lake power failure for an hour.  Lake effect showers, where relatively warm Lake Michigan contributes moisture to colder dry air passing over it, are expected today.  Thursday and Friday should be dry, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms on Saturday.

(8/21/10)  Keith, Marcia, Ann and I went on a pontoon boat ride up the river to Hanley Lake yesterday and saw several Great Blue Herons.  Click on the thumbnail to see an enlarged picture of this heron as well as photos of the upside-down hummingbird and piggyback riding loons.



(7/21/10)   We saw two of the three Intermediate Lake loon families on our pontoon boat ride to the islands yesterday.  The chicks are growing rapidly and are starting to develop their adult coloring.  I'll be adding pictures to the bird page soon.  We haven't seen any eagles this year, which is good news for the chicks.
