| (1/23/12) I took these shots from the Openo launch ramp near the islands when the temperature was in the mid-forties. I think I'd be nervous about leaving the shanty out there, much less fishing from it in this weather. |

| (12/23/11) I saw these swans checking out the first serious ice of the season by the Central Lake bridge. They'll probably be in that area until spring. The black-and-white ducks (buffleheads, goldeneyes) should arrive soon. |

Hello Ken, I am finally getting around to thanking you for a great webcam site. I especially enjoy looking at it in the winter to check the snow conditions near our place Intermediate Lake. I thought you might be interested in seeing a couple of the pictures I took Saturday. This beautiful owl was hanging around all day. Certainly made a bright spot in our otherwise gray and drizzly day. I was able to get very close to him a couple of times. I even went out to scare away some crows that were dive-bombing him. The crows took off but he stayed on his perch. His wing span had to have been about 5 feet. He was still there when I checked just before dark. Amazing! Of course i don't know if it was a young male or a female. Obviously I don't have a great camera but you can see what I was watching. I also saw two loons Saturday in their gray winter uniforms. Sunday morning a bald eagle soared down the lake scattering all the migrating buffleheads before landing in a pine tree on the point near Snowflake. Enjoy the winter...I'll be watching your cam!
